ITT Watermark

Cause Branding

OVERVIEW

In the spring of 2007, ITT, an engineering and manufacturing company with approximately 40,000 employees worldwide, was facing some hard numbers. The results of a survey taken to measure employees’ perceptions about company culture indicated ITT’s vision and values were disconnected from the company’s current goals. A change and evolution of ITT’s vision and values were in order. ITT approached Cone to lead the development of a comprehensive social investment and philanthropy strategy.

PROGRAM ELEMENTS

The result was ITT Watermark, a company-wide social investment and philanthropy program dedicated to providing safe water to people in need by leveraging the full capacity of ITT’s resources. ITT has committed $3MM over three years to provide safe water solutions to 300 schools in Asia and Latin America and additional funds to secure safe water supplies for people in times of emergency. Ultimately, the investments of ITT Watermark are expected to improve the lives of more than 100,000 children and their families.

RESULTS

In 2008, ITT Watermark:

  • Supported 52 schools in Latin America and Asia with safe water, sanitation and hygiene solutions and directly impacted more than 36,000 school children
  • Provided safe water to more than 190,000 people following emergencies
  • Supported Mercy Corps’ global emergency response team via training for Latin America and ITT staff and supported on-the-ground response operations in Latin America and Asia via funding, product donation and employee deployment
